Theatricks troup to present show in schools
Theatricks spring touring show, Something From Nothing, is ready to begin traveling to area schools.
Project Theatre,Theatricks' educational outreach program, features a traveling show in the fall and the spring. These shows are 30-minute, creative involvement plays that perform in school locations and encourages student participation. In the fall, the traveling show visited 20 different schools, and plans to surpass that this spring especially in Fannin County. The total number of students and adults viewing last year's two productions was 40,000. The program is made possible by grants from area foundations.
Something From Nothing is based on an old folk tale made into a book by Phoebe Gilman. It tells the story of a little boy named Joseph who receives a very special gift from his grandmother when he was born. As Joseph grows, the special gift has to go through many transformations by his grandmother as wear and time influences the condition of the gift.
Performing in this show are Caleb Crocker, Elizabeth Geddis , Dianne Hudson, and Webster Crocker, Theatricks' director. Caleb, a 9-year-old home-school student, is taking on the character of Joseph, and is also appearing in Sherman Community Player's current production of The nerd. Geddis has been performing with Theatricks touring shows for more than 10 years, and will be portraying Joseph's grandmother, Grammy. This will be Hudson's first appearance with Theatricks touring show, and she will play Joseph's mother. Her first acting stint with the SCP program was in December in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Crocker rounds out the cast as the narrator.
The traveling show is available to perform on Thursdays throughout the spring semester during regular school hours. For more information or to check availability of scheduling, contact Crocker at 903-893-8525 or director@theatricks.org.
