Girls Basketball Roundup -- DHS earns split
HERALD DEMOCRAT
PONDER -- Kendra Robbins had 25 points and 12 rebounds as Denison earned a split on the opening day of the Ponder Tournament with a 63-50 victory over Prosper on Thursday.
"Every game it kinda seems like we've gotten a little better. We're competing very well," Denison head coach Katie Holley said. "I would say our defensive intensity has got to improve. We've just got to get more consistent but I thought we were better offensively."
Symonne Galloway scored 11 points, Emily Thompson made eight-of-nine free throws and finished with 10 points and Clarissa Moore chipped in nine points for the Lady Yellow Jackets (2-2).
Denison opened the day with a 55-35 loss to Ponder. Icis Finley had seven points while Carly Bader chipped in six points for the Lady Jackets, who face Alvord today at 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday play Saginaw at 1 p.m. and Sanger at 7 p.m. to finish out the tournament.

Bells 46, Detroit 41
CAMPBELL -- Lauren Moore had 12 points, 11 steals, seven assists and six rebounds as Bells defeated Detroit at the Campbell Tournament on Thursday.
Rylie Ruth added 10 points and seven steals, Hannah Scoggins had nine points and six rebounds and Macie Robinson chipped in five points and six rebounds for Bells (4-0), which continues tournament play today.
Honey Grove 77, Trenton 14
CAMPBELL -- Chanda Foster's 15 points led five Lady Warriors in double figures as Honey Grove defeated Trenton at the Campbell Tournament on Thursday.
Deosha Mackey and Jessica Brigham added 12 points, Chelsea Edwards scored 11 points and Regan Rickman chipped in 10 points for Honey Grove (3-0).
Marla Frazier scored nine points for Trenton (0-3), which plays Detroit at 3:30 p.m. today as tournament play continues.
Merit Bland 47, Ector 27
CAMPBELL -- Kristina Williams had 10 points but Ector came up short to Merit Bland in the Campbell Tournament on Thursday.
Bailey Whitehead added seven points for Ector (0-4), which faces either Campbell or Blue Ridge at 3:30 p.m. today as tournament place continues.
Quinlan Ford Tmt.
Sam Rayburn 34, Van Alstyne 27
QUINLAN -- Kaleigh Titsworth scored nine points as Sam Rayburn defeated Van Alstyne to open the Quinlan Ford Tournament on Thursday.
Sydney Davis and Lynsey House each had eight points while Davis added 11 rebounds for Sam Rayburn (2-1), which continues tournament action today at noon against Quinlan Ford.
