Malt Shop to Host Car Show

By Ken Gaidziunas

Staff Writer

The Malt Shop in Anna will host its 10th annual Blowout Car and Truck Show on Saturday, June 19.

The event will feature street rods from the '30s and '40s, virtually every make from the '50s, muscle cars from the '60s and everything else in between.

The show is sponsored by the Malt Shop Cruisers, a loose-knit group of forever young car enthusiasts.

"We're expecting around 170 cars, just like last year," said Samye Dickerson, Malt Shop Cruisers member and one of the show's coordinators. "They're all calling saying they're coming."

Registration will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., with judging from 11 to noon. Awards for a variety of classes will be presented at 1 p.m.

"There will be plenty of great food available from The Malt Shop throughout the day, and we will have arts and crafts vendors," Dickerson said. Music and prizes will help complete the day.

"We will be presenting checks to the Anna Education Foundation and to Jim Rountree for the Anna Scholarship Fund," Dickerson continued.

While the weather forecast calls for sunny skies, the rain date, just in case, is Sunday, June 20.
