Robbery — Sept. 18, 3:08 a.m., U.S. 67/75, Sgt. Brock Jones reporting. Officers were dispatched in response to a call about a robbery. The victims, a couple from Texas, said a former in-law had robbed them at gunpoint. Jones said police were called because the woman was attempting to flag down traffic on the highway.

Jones said that they were traveling north on U.S. Highway 69/75 when a pickup came up behind them, its headlights flashing at them. The driver then pulled up next to them in the left lane and they recognized the passenger as a former in-law. They reportedly pulled over and stopped and so did the pickup. The passenger in the pursuing vehicle approached and reportedly pointed a gun at the female passenger, telling her to get out of the vehicle. The report said he then made both the husband and wife lie face down in the grass and took $800 from the woman’s purse, broke their cellular phones and threw their vehicle keys away.
