Sherman P.D.

Drugs — Oct. 20. Following procedure, Officer Larry Bell inspected the back seat of his patrol car Thursday morning before going on patrol and reported finding several white pills. Later, at the Grayson County Jail, a corrections officer found some illegal drugs in an inmate’s property and called Sherman police to investigate. Officer Jeremy Jones reported that the pills have been sent to a forensic lab for testing and charges of prohibited substance in a correctional institution are pending.

Shoplifting — Several incidents of shoplifting have been reported since Thursday, with some arrests made. Thursday, officer Larry Bell jailed a 22-year-old man who was detained by Burlington Coat Factory security for police. The man is suspected of leaving with clothes valued at less than $50. He posted $1,500 bail in surety bonds later the same day on the charge of theft less than $50 with previous conviction. Friday, officer Brett Mullen jailed a 30-year-old woman on the same charge after being stopped outside Walmart by that store’s in-house security. Bail was set at $1,500, which the suspect posted in surety bonds later Friday. Also on Friday, Hobby Lobby store personnel called police to report that two females had left with sketching markers valued at $1,400. The suspects had left before the theft was discovered and the case is under investigation.

On Saturday, officer Ryan Hapiuk arrested a 23-year-old man on several charges, including theft, evading arrest or detention, and failure to identify a fugitive by giving a false name, plus two outstanding warrants. The suspect reportedly left a Dollar General store on East Lamar. Hapiuk reported finding the suspect near the store with the stolen merchandise in his possession. He issued the man a citation charging him with theft, then discovered the suspect had given him a phony name. Hapiuk again located the suspect on Patricia Street, and when the officer entered the house, the suspect crawled through a window and ran on foot from police. He was caught and arrested. As of Monday, he remained incarcerated in lieu of a total of $8,998 bail and cash bonds. The property he is accused of stealing is valued at less than $50.

Drug arrest — Oct. 21, 1500 block N. Grand, Officer Chris Carson. Carson, called to a disturbance, spoke with a man about the noise complaint. The man told Carson the party was over and people were leaving. The report states that the man gave Carson a phony name and date of birth. Carson first arrested him on a charge of failure to identify. Then, when searching him prior to taking him to jail, he found a pill bottle filled with marijuana inside the suspect’s pocket. Also inside that pill bottle was one pill which Carson identified as morphine. He added charges of possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substance, both enhanced by being in a drug-free zone. The suspect posted a total of $11,500 bail in surety bonds later Friday.

Drug arrest — Oct. 21, 1900 block S. U.S. 75, Officer Brandon Toney. A traffic stop made for a moving violation led to the arrest of a 26-year-old woman on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substance, which the report showed was prescription medication. She posted bail set at $3,000 later Friday.

Arrest — Oct. 23, 200 block W. Houston, Officer Tyler Halter. Halter, on patrol, stopped a vehicle on a moving violation, then found that the driver, age 26, had no driver’s license nor insurance. Then, he reported, Halter found her in possession of K-2, a synthetic marijuana classified as a possession of controlled substance PG 2-A. He jailed her on the offense of not having a valid license, and charges could be filed at large on the K-2 possession.

Theft — Oct. 22, 5600 block Texoma Parkway, Officer Steve Northington. A man said that his adult-age step-son had recently stolen electronic equipment from him, which he valued at $500.

Burglary — Oct. 22, 2300 block W. Taylor, Officer Brandon Hughes. A complainant told police that two people kicked in her back door and ran inside. They were only there a brief time, she said, and ran after being scared away.

Criminal mischief — Oct. 23, 8:30 p.m., 600 block Madison Place, Officer Tony Walden. A woman called police reporting that someone in a vehicle was following her home. At her house, she made it inside and then heard a loud noise outside, leading her to believe her mailbox had been hit. Walden discovered that a vehicle had struck the mailbox.

Whitesboro P.D.

Arrest — Oct. 20, E. U.S. 82, Officer Jason Pruitt. Dispatch received a 911 call and heard a woman screaming in the background. The report states that the woman and her children were locked in a room. Police arrested a man by the same surname as the caller on charges of interference with emergency call and criminal mischief.
