Denison P.D.

Drug arrest — Sept. 28, 4:45 p.m., 1401 W. Morton, Officer Christopher Nordhoff. A traffic stop made for a minor traffic violation led to the arrest of the driver, a Denison man, age 22, on a felony drug charge of manufacture-delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) between 4-200 grams. Lt. Mike Eppler said that the driver’s actions while talking with Nordhoff made the officer suspicious, including the movements he made after the vehicle was stopped. A search of the vehicle located numerous bags of meth, and also plastic baggies, scales, and pills. Police seized the suspect’s cell phone and $165 in cash and these items are subject to civil forfeiture.

The meth, found inside the vehicle and on the suspect’s body, weighed more than 11 grams. He remains in Grayson County Jail with bail set at $25,000.

Burglary of vehicle — Sept. 28, 400 block W. Gandy, Officer Brian Conrad. Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed a Canon digital camera, valued at $1,100, and a iPhone charger, valued at $45.

Criminal mischief — Sept. 28, 1816 N. SH 91 (Heritage Park Apartments), Officer Robby Carney. A woman told police that someone stabbed the sidewalls of two tires on her vehicle.

Durant P.D.

Horse, pedestrian, vehicle crash — Sept. 27, 12:40 p.m., McLean & Francis, Officer Logan Prather. A man was leading his horse on the side of the roadway when a Nissan Pathfinder hit the rear end of the horse. The horse had reportedly entered the driving lane before the Nissan struck it. The impact knocked the horse owner to the ground and he went by ambulance to an emergency room. Lt. Carrie Wyrick said the horse had to be put down.

Sherman P.D.

Drug arrest — Sept. 27, 400 block Archer, Officer Trevor Stevens. A traffic stop led to Stevens asking the driver for permission to search the vehicle. The driver said yes, and police conducted a search that located cocaine. The passenger, 29, was also found to have cocaine with him and was placed under arrest on a felony charge of possession of controlled substance. He posted $5,000 bail in surety bonds later Tuesday. Police also arrested the driver, 25, on the charge of possession of controlled substance. Her bail, too, was set at $5,000, and as of late Wednesday afternoon, she was still incarcerated.

Drug arrest — Sept. 27, 300 block W. Houston, Officer Tony Walden. A 35-year-old man went to jail on a charge of theft over $1,500 after walking out of a convenience store with an unpaid-for can of beer. Police determined the suspect had been convicted twice before of theft and so the charge on this incident was enhanced by each theft. Wednesday afternoon, he remained in Grayson County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.

Drug arrest — Sept. 28, 200 block N. Carr at E. Pecan, Officer Samuel Boyle. During a traffic stop, Boyle reported seeing a white crystal-like substance in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. He field-tested the substance and that determined it to be methamphetamine. He jailed the driver, a 42-year-old woman, on a charge of possession of controlled substance. She remains in jail.

Theft — Sept. 27, 2200 block Covington Court, Officer Ryan Hapiuk. A resident reported that several rings are missing from her house.

Theft — Sept. 27, 1000 block E. U.S. 82, telephone report. A caller said that he had left his iPod plugged in to a charger at his place of employment. When he returned the next day, it was gone.

Debit and credit card thefts — Sept. 27, Three incidents reported. The first was a woman who said she realized her credit card was gone and then learned it had been used at 8:47 p.m. Sept. 21. The second complainant stated he had been to a party on FM 1417 Sunday and then, when he woke up that afternoon, he discovered that his cell phone was gone and two credit cards taken from his wallet. He then learned that the cards had been used in Allen, Texas, to purchase items at costs of more than $1,000. A third complaint came from a woman who reported that someone had broken into her vehicle and stolen her purse in Van Alstyne. She then learned that her cards were used in Sherman. That officer, Tony Walden, has made an initial investigation and stated in his report that the case will remain open pending the identification of a second suspect.

Arrests — Sept. 27. A shoplifting suspect who was caught after fleeing to another store was caught and jailed. In the search, police also found and arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant. Various Sherman police officers made separate reports. It started when Walmart store personnel confronted a man who left the store with merchandise he had been seen gathering but for which he did not make payment.

Outside the store, loss-prevention officers attempted to stop him, and he pushed one of them against the wall. He then ran across U.S. 75 with the property and was caught inside the bathroom of a retail store on the east side of the highway. Police arrested the suspect, age 21, on an enhanced theft charge of robbery, and also on an outstanding warrant charging him with possession of marijuana.

Bail was set at a total of $17,000 and he remains incarcerated.

While searching for him, and on information that he might be at a nearby convenience store, another officer reported he found a man at that store who matched the description given. He detained him and, following protocol, searched him. He found marijuana on this second man, and then determined there was a warrant in place charging him with driving a vehicle which had an invalid inspection sticker on it. That suspect, age 28, was jailed on a charge of possession of marijuana and the warrant and as of later Wednesday, he, too, remained incarcerated in lieu of $1,710 cash bond and bail.
