Van Alstyne City Council to meet Tuesday

VAN ALSTYNE -- The Van Alstyne City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Center, 262 N. Preston.
Acting as the Zoning Board of Adjustments for public hearings on two items.
Public hearings
- A request for a variance at 144 N. Dallas to allow a small single-family house. This house will become the first Habitat for Humanity house built in Grayson County outside Sherman and Denison.
- A plat request for platting of property not given by street address in the agenda, but is a portion of the James McKinney Survey Abstract 770, Moody Addition.
Meeting
- When the council meeting opens, the first votes to be taken will be on these two requests.
- Other agenda items include:
- Ratification of action taken by Mayor Ruth Ann Collins as it relates to Resolution No. 09-2009-02.
- The 2009-10 Van Alstyne Economic Development and Community Development corporations' budgets.
- Appointments to the Van Alstyne Library Board, EDC, and the Greater Texoma Utility Authority Board.
- Consider and possibly vote on changes in water and sewer rates.
- Ordinance No. 631 establishing an identity theft prevention program.
- The purchase of the right to additional water from Lake Texoma through Greater Texoma Utility Authority.
- Contracts with the city ambulance service's medical director and billing company.
- Financial reports, including the 2007-08 audit, and minutes of previous meetings.
- Update from City Manager Bill Herrington and comments from Collins.
Closed session
The Council will go into closed session to discuss the former football stadium. No votes will be taken until they return to open session.
Finalizing the meeting, as posted on the agenda, will be a chance for the public to address the council and for any announcements.
