Alrighty Yellow Jackets and Bearcats, here is a chance for you to talk about the 111th Battle of the Ax and the 9-4A finale that will decide the district title. I will take any questions you have and try to answer them to the best of my ability as well as give fans a chance to trash talk. However, there is one caveat. I control what gets through so let's keep it clean at least. No need to get vulgar.
Anyway, I will be on here live from 3-4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon so stop on back here for all the fun. But here is the best part -- if you can't make it then, you can send your question or comment starting now in the box shown in the middle of the chat and I will get to it when the time comes. Then be sure to check back any time after the chat to see what went down.

SIGNS??? : 11/8/2009
Bearcat fans, all we have to say is Pick up those Signs!! "The ax is coming back" The Ax stays home and we were so happy to hear how quiet yall were Friday night at Halftime. I could hear a pin drop. Or was it more like an ax chopping wood?
Keeping it Real!!
Hmm : 11/7/2009
HOW DOES IT FEEL SHERMAN? I am so proud of the boys and what they did last night. Sherman has been talking like they had that game easy and our boys came out in the first quarter ready to win. The best part of all is that the Sherman students were talking all kinds of trash before the game even started. I love it. They swore they had that game, and that we were nothing but "white trash".. Looks like they were wrong. Good job boys, Love yall! :)

Well, I guess the Sherman fans can't blame Drew Young for this one like they did last year. Go Jackets!!!!

Hmmmm, ACTUALLY.... : 11/7/2009
Looks like JIsider wasn't too far off in his assessment and I predicted a 42-24 Jacket victory. Those facts seemed to be pretty straight. Perhaps you need more bias in your thinking. I'm wondering... were you the same guy that complained about Jason's blog being biased when it's called "Straight Jackets"?

Ummmm.... reading comprehension down, ACTUAL? JIsider wasn't the one that mentioned Bearcats spouting off, it was me. And as for "facts", that comment was based on a blog entry from earlier this week that started with a Sherman fan popping off about an upset and how quiet (or "quite", as the poster wrote) the Denison fans were, so you are pretty much wrong all the way around. Anyway, why the need for the personal attack about someone's intelligence? Not very neighborly of you, chief. Get over yourself, indeed!

Your opinion is obviously biased no matter how many times you said it wasn't (believe me, we get it. you said it 100 times). But, get your facts straight. No Bearcat has "spouted off." You're obviously just a Denison fan trying to seem like you have the slightest intelligence. Get over yourself.

Battle of the Axe : 11/4/2009
The game should be a good one. Denison has several bigtime playmakers so if they can keep their emotions in check, take care of the ball, I believe their playmakers will deliver a win. I'm a Jacket fan but have supported Sherman at least four times in their playoff games over the past several years. I'm not sure I hated them many years ago when I competed against them.

Interesting thoughts, JIsider : 11/3/2009
I don't know about Sherman and the whole "champions" bit, but I would agree that Denison fans take a more critical view of their team. People were upset the first 4 weeks of this season when the Jackets came out flat. The noise has subsided as the train has started rolling, but winning wasn't enough and jeez -- they even lost a game!!! By the way, that loss may turn out to be a blessing. It's my personal opinion that if the talent is equal (and it isn't this year), Denison deserves the edge because they want it more. I don't doubt that Sherman dislikes Denison when they meet, but Denison hates Sherman (I'm speaking sports-wise for all you folks that are gonna get your panties in a wad). A Sherman fan said in another thread that they cheer for Denison in the playoffs. I'm sure there must be some Denison fans that cheer for Sherman when they hit the playoffs, but I've never known any. Also, Sherman dwells on the past and because they are considerably larger, they think winning this game is their right (even though over the past 25 years, Denison has the edge). That's why every year the back and forth starts with a Bearcat spouting off - and I'm not knocking them, because I get a kick out of all of this and it wouldn't be much fun if they didn't pop off. On the other hand, Denison has an inferiority complex and it makes them play a little harder than they might otherwise. This year, it all adds up to Denison 42, Sherman 24.
Still Happy on November 7th

What else? The Axe... : 11/3/2009
So, what's up with the lack of smack talk coming in this week? Seems like there has been more bantering in the previous 3-4 weeks! Not a lot of questions may be asked anyhow. More like statements. Harsh ones at that, but I'm surprised at the lack of it. Sherman was doing a lot of chirping in past weeks....especially about how stellar they looked against Frisco and Centennial:)! Ahhhh, changing of the leaves in the Fall and inflated, puffed up Bearcat egos! Smells like Battle of the Axe! Not to worry, Denison had their own over exited comments about the same! Yeah, took some strong effort to hang on to eeek one out against Mckinney North and Frisco! Although I will say the one decent team (Mckinney) the Yellowjackets looked much more impressive. We could blame that on Sherman's...um...field. If that's one one wants to call it. It looks like the world's biggest rodeo just took place on that thing. Can Sherman not afford a new field? I mean no recession should be so traggic. Besides, according to the Sherman commercial I've seen, economic indicators are starting to look up! Good, now go turf shopping. Let's face it. Neither Sherman nor Denison fans should be comparing their respective district wins. Both are miles ahead of anyone else in this district. I think all the previous games are a mere formality to determine who is finishing 3rd and 4th. Sherman and Denison are talent rich. When good teams clash what makes the difference is penalties and turnovers. Edge, Sherman. However there is no replacement for speed and talent. Edge, Denison. Sherman in the past has seemed to get rattled easier and I think that's due to what they convince themselves of. They put it in their heads that they are extra special good and somehow believe that the teams they have feasted on in district somehow mean something. Sherman is a sunshine blowing community (not that that is a bad thing). Everything is glowing, glowing in Sherman articles and 'round town. Denison, the opposite. The fans and coaches constantly look at their mistakes. The community almost dwells on them. So, Denison I think looks a little more realistic at their team and any problems it may have that need to be seriously adressed. Sherman has walked around in games and practices for a while now referring to their players as "champions!" and commenting on their "championship!" plays. That's all well, fine and good....but some might say that's the kind of gimmicky stuff someone does to try to convince a team of something when they don't have the talent of someone else?? Just a thought. No doubt that Sherman has got solid talent and improved much over what anyone's expectation were. Is it enough? Sherman and Denison have met 5 times while unbeaten and playing for a district title. Denison has won all 5. Intresting note.
