Dustin Ray Mullins, 24, of Sherman and Christopher Shawn Blythe, 24, of McKinney have been charged with murder in connection with the death Monday of Bobby Ray Mathenia, 27.
The Grayson County Sheriff's Office received the call at 1:14 p.m., saying there was a deceased person in a field on Gibbons and Deaver roads, northwest of Southmayd. Chief Tom Rains, Sheriff's investigators, deputies and Southmayd Police Chief Henry Gudenau were sent to the scene, and identified the deceased as Mr. Mathenia and had the body sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner.
Rains said the medical examiner declared the cause of death to be homicide and the manner of death by blunt force trauma. The investigators found nothing at the scene that they believed was used as a weapon.
As the investigation unfolded, Rains said, they arrested Mullins on unrelated charges, one of which was a warrant charging him with probation violation and allowing for no bail. The other charges were driving violations, carrying a total of $750. He has remained incarcerated. On Wednesday, law enforcement added the first-degree charge of murder against Mullins, and a judge set bail on that charge at $1 million.
As the investigation continued, Rains said, they identified Blythe as another murder suspect. Rains said that arrest was made at the Sheriff's Office, and a family member said Blythe turned himself in after officers attempted to find him at a Southmayd home the night before.
Blythe also remains in jail on two felony charges: First degree felony murder ($1 million bail) and tampering with physical evidence with the intent to impair human corpse ($250,000 bail).
Rains said the investigation is not yet over, and there could be other arrests made.
Rains also said a special grand jury has been called to meet Wednesday to conduct its own investigation, and therefore the Sheriff's Office could not release any more information.

Yes whether a drug dealer or drug user. The drugs always win... DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS... They will control you. This is so terrible that all these 3 men ruined their own lives.Over a high. And with no thought to the consquences that comes with it. They all did wrong! This had nothing to do with race or color! Dustin, Chris, and Bobby were in another world that day due to the drugs they all were on.They all knew the consquences that come from the life that all 3 have lead. Drugs, stealing, and dealing! In time ya'll will all find out they all did wrong. Hopefully the real truth will come out and be made public. I'm not defending anyone here.But if Bobby was such a good guy.What in the hell was he doing hanging out with known dopeheads that night? But ya'll say he never did drugs. Why was he with them then? Let's learn a lesson here! If you use dope everyday it takes over your mind and body and makes you the type of monster that would kill without thinking. And if you are a drug dealer, you are around these types of people everyday and putting yourself into harms way of either getting hurt, killed or caught by the police and put into the prison system. Unfortunatly Bobby got the worst of it. If you live the lifestyle it comes with consiquences wether you are the drug user or the drug dealer. There is always a lesson to be learned!!!!!! Maybe people close to these families involved will change for the better!!!! It sucks that some had children that have to grow up without there daddy because of the lifestyle they chose to live. Don't use drugs and don't sale drugs because you will never win the battle. They all lose in the end.

I know just how unfair the so called "Justice System "is so I pray for both families involved and hope that true justice can be found in Grayson Co. for once. As for Dustin he is worthless!Blythe I know nothing about but his being with Dustin says alot. I'm sorry that this has happen, drugs can and does cause much heartache for both the family and the user, but once an act of violence or murder has taken place there is nothing you can do to fix it. If you are a family member has or ever had a drug problem then you know very well how it destory's life. Again I hope that true justice is served in this case. It's sad that it took this murder to stop them.As for Dustin's daughter I pray someone has her that will keep her away from her mother as well and she has a chance at life.

Investigation underway means that there is so much more than just the average murder here people. This could have been racially motivated also. The way all of it went down will never hit the news or the media for the public to ever know. It is going to be a sickning case for the jury members that will hang these two unless they cope a plea. I bet crackhead #1 is singing like a bird and cooperating while crackhead #2 is going to have to eat the larger rap. I myself personally knew Dustin and Chris and they are both have always played a worthless role in life. I'm just surprised this has happened sooner, I'm just greatful it wasn't an innocent person that didn't deal drugs that was murdered because then I would really be hurt by what these two have done. They all broke the laws we good citizens abide by.Believe me they all did wrong including Bobby.GOD has a reason for everything that happens in life.They have and or will all be punished for that.It was wrong and horrible what Dustin and Chris did.It makes me sick at my stomach to even think about it. I am just saying that Bobby did very wrong too. He payed for that with his life. Who knows what price Dustin and Chris will pay. But they are grown men who knew wrong from right.And will get the punishment that our courts sees fit for the crime. And it concerns me to hear everyone talk about Bobby like he was a saint. He wasn't. Word on the street is he dealt drugs. In my oppinion, which I am entitled to, these "boys" are definitly MONSTERS and deserve whatever is coming to them. I agree, they gave up their rights when they intentionally BEAT HIM TO DEATH! Yeah Dustin's and Chris's families are grieving I'm sure, but not even close to what Bobbi's familes are all going through right now. Their family member was MURDERED by the hands of those two. My heart goes out to Bobbi's family. And to all those out there who have family members who are caught up in drugs and theft and whetever else kind of mischief hopefully you will do your part to try and steer them back into the right direction, this is a classic example of what it can turn into. The fact is Bobbi is dead because of these guys, I study the law and they have enough evidence to arrest this guys. They can not give out to much information because that can weaken there case when it goes to trial. That's why they use the term "investigation underway." I have to say to those kneeling down now... right....LOL. I hope and pray for justice and a GREAT big mean Judge. And some one said "thou shall not judge" , then why a Judicial system at all? GROW UP LADY.Laws are to be followed not broken and when done so, you are punished. Just like the laws of the Bible, so I hear anyway, since no one has ever come back to tell US differently.

People have there opinions, but unless you truely know Dustin and Shawn(Chris), you really don't know the reality of the whole thing. It was bound to happen sooner than later with Dustin Mullins due to the fact he always had to have a weapon everytime he fights, Grayson Co. has been for years aware of the threat he is due to multiple occasions and charges filed against him but the sheriffs dept always let him slide away. These individuals where worthless dopeheads that didn't hold jobs, theived from all over the county for there need to get high. From my understanding Bobbi was a crack dealer, put 2 and 2 together and there you go. The extent of this whole thing hasn't been released to the public yet so I won't touch on those parts, but it seem like they have enough to follow through with the charges and actually put them away for good. Shawn seemed to be less likely to do this but from the influence and pressure from Dustin it is possible. But who knows when your all cracked out what you'll do. I do know that Dustin has a lil girl that he has always chose to do dope, than to ever have a father/daughter relationship with. I give all my respect to the family that takes care of this lil girl, please give her your all and raise her well! I hope that a jury will for sure see through Dustin and see what a criminal he is and sentence him well so he will realize what he had. This was sad but if it was over dope, you really can't feel bad or sad for anyone involved even the victim. Just remember that GOD will pass the final judgement.

To all of those of you who are so worried about these guy's "rights", I have one question for you: what about Mr. Mathenia rights? Did he get his due process of the law? Did he get his fair trial? Did he get his appeals for his life? NO! He was beat to death mercilessly by these two scumbag thugs! In my opinion, they gave up all of their rights when they brutally murdered this young man and I hope the judge sees it that way too!

The circumstances of the murder, whether self-defense or intentional, are not immediately visible. However, as this case develops it should allow a lot of people to realize the need for vigilance, precaution and thought in their everyday actions. Associating with shady or unstable people can be a deadly decision. My thoughts and prayers go both to the victim's family, and all those who seek a world where we can leave our doors unlocked at night.
