Thirty-five people make up the cast of Willy Wonka Theatrick's season opener.


Theatricks announces Willy Wonka cast


Theatricks will begin its season with Willy Wonka, which will debut Sept. 5-6 at Sherman's Kidd-Key auditorium. Sponsored by the Sherman Council for the Arts and Humanities, Willy Wonka will feature a cast of 35 and professional flying effects by ZFX. Theatricks director is Webster Crocker.

More than 80 people turned out for Willy Wonka auditions, held July 20-21. Putting together the 35-member cast were Crocker, Sylvia Rivers, vocal director, Fred Freeman, orchestra director, Amy Dean, choreographer, and Mickie Martin, stage manager.

Cast in the title role as Willy Wonka is Darrah Dunn who is debuting in his first Theatricks production, but has performed in several Sherman Community Players productions. The host of "Golden Ticket" winners and their chaperones to the Wonka Factory include: Hannah Sanza as Charlie Bucket; Paul Jordan as Grandpa Joe; Joshua Bayless as Augustus Gloop; Elise Hebert as Mrs. Gloop; Anna Nall as Veruca Salt; John Lonnevik as Mr. Salt; Ellie Gundersheimer as Violet Beauregarde; Jessica Adams as Ms. Beauregarde; Caleb Crocker as Mike Teavee; and Taylor Garland as Ms. Teavee.

Charlie Bucket's family is being played by: Leigh Walker as Mrs. Bucket; Asa Thornhill as Mr. Bucket; Theresa Littlefield as Grandma Josephine; Dallas Fleck as Grandpa George; and Sarah Davis as Grandma Georgina.

Taylor Nall will be Phineous Trout the news reporter, and Frank Sanza is cast as Candy Man.

Other parts include school children, cooks, and Oompa-Loompas, created by a combination of chorus which includes Brittani Crocker, McKenzie Baca, Ashley Hicks, Haylee Boren, Daphne Hattaway, Lilly Boessen, Emma Cobb, Alex Mazzant, Colin McGinn, Lexi Thornhill, Anna McGowan, Abby Noblett, Jessie Noblett, Townsend Jambor, Anabelle Dunn, Drew Crocker, and Adrianne Clark.

Theatricks' 2009-2010 season memberships are currently available and includes three shows, Willy Wonka, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and The BFG (Big, Friendly Giant). Purchase a Theatricks season membership and be entered in a drawing for five "Golden Ticket" gift baskets that contain prizes from area businesses.
