Texas Gypsies tickets on sale

Tickets are on sale now for the June 13 concert of The Texas Gypsies at the historic Rialto Theater in Denison. The concert is being sponsored by the Denison Arts Council, and the family-friendly performance starts at 7 :30 p.m.

Known as the "kings of retro-cool, The Texas Gypsies bring a blend of Texas, Europe and New Orleans. The Gypsies' vintage sound includes swinging jazz, New Orleans instrumentals and Parisian-inspired selections, twisted with Texas flavor. Audiences will be treated to a mixture of Western swing and "gypsy jazz," creating a diverse blend of sounds reminiscent of Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Asleep at the Wheel and Django Reinhardt. The group is based out of Dallas and has been recognized by the Texas Commission on the Arts as well as the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Rialto Theater retains its 1920s charm both inside and out. The venue is air conditioned, smoke-free, and offers plenty of on-street parking.

Tickets range in price from $5 (students and local university faculty) to $25 for VIP seating and the after party. Tickets are available at the Denison Chamber of Commerce, 313 W. Woodard, or by calling 903-465-1551. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the concert.
