TCM Theater Camp set for August 3-7

Texoma Children's Museum in downtown Denison is once again partnering with Denison High School's award-winning theatre students to offer a summer theater camp for budding young actors and actresses.

Back by popular demand, the TCM Theater Camp runs Au.t 3-7 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily, and is open to school children in grades kindergarten through five. Extended hours until 5:30 p.m. daily will be available for an additional fee, to accommodate the schedules of working parents.

"The Children's Museum will be closed to the public during this week so we can totally focus on our theatre campers," said DHS Theatre Director Amy Jordan who will supervise and direct the camp along with TCM's Sasha Best. "The educational part of the camp will include a lot of music, song, drama and dance as well as stage direction, choreography, script reading, blocking and performance techniques. On the last day of camp at 6 p.m., we'll host a grand performance for parents, families and friends. Campers will need to bring a lunch each day. Our goal is to provide a great learning experience that is also fun and entertaining."

Jordan says last year's camp sold out quickly, and she expects the same to happen again this year.

"Parents must register their children before camp starts on August 3rd, the sooner the better," said Jordan. "The cost for the entire week is only $100 for TCM members, $125 for non-members, and all proceeds will benefit the projects and programs of TCM and our DHS Theatre Department's Thelma Braun Center for the Performing Arts. We received rave reviews last year from campers and parents, so we're hosting another one."
