Entries still being accepted for Denison Christmas Parade
Entries are still being accepted this week for the annual Denison Christmas parade, scheduled for Dec. 3. Participation in the parade is free, and cash prizes will be given.
"Under the Christmas tree" is the theme is this year's parade. Categories will include: commercial float; commercial entry -- car or truck; individual/organization float; individual entry -- car or truck; car/motorcycle club; walking group; and equestrian. Judges will award a $250 grand prize to the parade's best entry. First place receives $150 and second place, $100. The best car/motorcycle club and the best equestrian entries will each receive $75.
Parade regulations are as follows: no semi-truck cabs can be used to pull floats or as an entry; no candy or other items can be thrown or handed out during the parade; no firearms, weapons, or firecrackers/fireworks of any kind can be used; no Santas; all entries must be decorated. Any entry passing out items or using firearms or weapons will be disqualified.
Parade line-up will begin at 5 p.m. on Crawford Street. Prior to the parade, entrants will receive a map marking their position in the lineup.
