Arkansas' Sugar Bowl nightmare leads to some good humor
This past Tuesday's Sugar Bowl turned into a dropfest for the Arkansas receivers, and I'm sure the program will recover from the loss of quarterback Ryan Mallett, who declared Thursday his intentions to enter the NFL draft. With Stanford's Andrew Luck deciding to remain in school, it means Mallett possibly becomes the top quarterback in the draft. Combine his draft status with the impending rookie salary cap that will surely be a part of the next collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association, it could cost Mallett $15 -$20 million to stay in school. You don't have to be a University of Arkansas graduate to know that's a lot of money - but it helps.
There have been a couple of good jokes to come from the Sugar Bowl. Breaking News: Arkansas researchers report that the birds that fell from the sky last week were dropped by Arkansas Razorback receivers.
A Heckler story titled "Pryor trades Sugar Bowl MVP trophy for Sugar Bowl MVP tattoo" reminds us that a trophy is just a trophy, but a tattoo lasts forever.
Now it's on to the Cotton Bowl on the long and winding path to the mythical national title game.

Mythical? : 1/17/2011
Wow- I didnt realize that Vanderbuilt, TN, GA, MS or MS State won BSC or National title games the last few year- Did the SEC win those or did good teams from the SEC? Does the SEC do "outcome based sports" where they are all winners? If so cant we then say that everyone else in division one are also winners?

There's nothing mythical about the SEC's dominance and the fact it's won the last five national title games, is 8-0 in its last eight title games overall and is 7-0 in BCS title games. I know its tough to swallow in Big 12 (or is it now Big 10) country, but the facts are facts. SEC cannot be stopped at all.
