Since there is no notebook this week (I know, I know, you readers will have to settle for a feature story instead), I am bringing you a staple of the notebook here on the blog.
For the second straight week Denison remained at 12th in the Associated Press top 10 poll. But the Yellow Jackets hold the spot all to themselves after a three-way tie with Denton Ryan and Big Spring last week.
This week Ryan is in a three-way tie for 13th and Big Spring is a point behind the Raiders at 16th. The top 10 teams did not change.
Denison received the same number of votes -- 10 -- as last week and is 24 points from rejoining the top 10 with one poll left before the start of the playoffs. There are only six undefeated teams remaining in all of Class 4A -- No. 1 Lake Travis, No. 2 Denton Guyer, No. 4 Waxahachie, No. 5 Angleton, No. 8 Port Neches-Grove and unranked Birdville.
I think the Jackets can sneak into the top 10 with a win over Sherman and the right combination of results to close out the season. There are several impact games to close out the season -- No. 2 Guyer and Ryan square off in 5-4A, Rockwall Heath and No. 6 Highland Park face off in 10-4A, No. 9 Aledo and Birdville, which sits at 11th, do battle in 6-4A and No. 4 Waxahachie plays No. 7 Waco-Midway.

Okay,Not a Jacket Fan....More vague comments. Was our band the offending party at halftime? I was there and I watched the entire halftime. Still can't figure out what you are talking about and you still don't seem to be able to mention it. I have a feeling that you are one of the sour grapes posters on here that cannot stand losing to Denison even at the half. Our players were not on the field at the half...didn't notice the band's tempers. Please be specific if you have a real issue, otherwise how about keeping it to yourself??

And, what pray tell is it that we were guilty of at halftime??? Broad generaliztions and vague innuendoes cause your post to lack credibility. Post again sometime when you get your facts together.

If Sherman would not have got the first intimidation punch in on the jacket players. Well, There would not have been a retaliation from the Jackets. But, That was a smart move for Sherman to do that...I agree that if The Jackets keep the reputation as a team to get easy penalties on. The trend will continue until disipline is established or ejections cost this team a opportunity to advance in the playoffs. These penalties started as district started. They better stop right now. Sherman was also picking at the game too.!! Oh yeah, Sherman is the most "Holding" team that i have ever seen, It'll cost'um in the playoffs.

Jacket Dad, I'm sure you would have loved the officials to stay out of it considering the way Denison plays. Their behavior during the game was shameful and what they did at half time was uncalled for. And you're not kidding about Denison being an explosive team.....they all have explosive tempers that they can't seem to keep in check.

I completely agree with Love the Jackets. Personal fouls have no excuse in a championship team. Making the team run for the few players who can't control themselves is obviously not working.....see repeat offenders!!! I agree a little time on the sidelines for attitude adjustment might just spark some self control!

I'm not sure how Sherman stands on penalties thus far, but if Denison continues to acquire them at the rate they have, it won't be much of a game. I don't think we can compete with Sherman if we continue the personal fouls. The players should set out a game if they can't control their attitudes and actions.

Sorry JacketMaster, but we didn't get beat by BigSpring, we got beat by the extremely biased officials. Even with Jordon playing badly that night we still would have won if the officials had actually called the game without their obvious bias. As far as I am concerned we are still undefeated. I do believe Sherman has one of the better teams in the district but Denison has the top rated linebacking crew in the district and the top producers on offense. Sherman has not even come close to playing a team as explosive as Denison. McKinny was their closest one and they should/would have lost that game if not for the bad field conditions. Any other field and Mckinney runs away with that game easily. Plus we all know that no matter how good or bad either of these teams are, when it comes to this game they all play way over their heads. I just hope the officials stay out of it as much as possible!

I am all for cheering and making noise at games and yes I do have a noise maker. What I don't like is people that stand in front of me the whole game. You can cheer just as loud sitting and you can standing. If there is a big play coming or the team is fixing to score then yes there is reason to stand but just to be standing and talking to your friend that is beside you is rude. In the section that I sit in there is alot of older people that sit behind us that can't stand the whole game and I feel bad because I have to stand because I want to see the game. So for the few of you that stand look around and if nobody less is standing please sit down and cheer. Go Jackets :)

This Jacket senior class has never lost to Sherman at any level (even when they were sophomores on varsity) and it won't be starting now. Just make sure you come back here after the game and 'fess up to how the better team won. As for Pearce, they'll be tough, but just because they sent you guys packing in the first round last year doesn't mean they'll do the same to us. And to the Bearcat who grew up, I don't think anybody's getting "worked up". It's nothing more than banter between rivals. At any rate, the Internet is vast. I'm sure there are plenty of places in which to continue your growth.

I always find it comical that people comment on the fact that others shouldn't comment. You don't have to read the comments section. Some of us DO get fired up about high school football...hence, we come here to read stories about it. I would feel weird if Sherman fans didn't come on here and defend their team, no matter how ludicrous thier arguements may be. Sherman has not played, including Lake Dallas, a team with this many weapons. I watched Sherman last Friday. Granted, they were in the mud...But their team speed is lacking. Denison runs away, literally, with this one.

I wanted what you showed me. I am comparing D/FW teams with team and individual stats with Sherman and Denison to kind of figure out power ratings per team. The stats you have are fantastic. I have Denison around 5002 total yards of offense. Is that close since you had not got the Den/Cen game updated, Thanks for the good info Jason, Keep it up...

Thoe are comments that make crow real tough if you have to eat it. I am first a Jacket fan, but unlike many others, I am also a Bearcat fan. I don't feel the need to hate one to love the other. I wish the best of luck to both in the playoffs, make 'em believers in Grayson county football. This should be a good game and, as you should know, previous stats mean nothing when it comes to the "Battle of the Axe".

the jackets are just fine.they are ready to play even if they have a few players hurt. there are some fans though that need to get up and cheer. it gets them fired up and they play better and it also gets the other team confused. we need to wake up and cheer. there are some of us who have bells and yes we ring them loud and often .at the game last friday night some of the fans got mad at us and we had to have the frisco police come. PLEASE CHEER LOUD AND ALOT SCREAM, STOMP,RING YOUR BELLS whatever it takes do it. please

The neet thing about the two teams is whatever the result of this Fridays game the two cities always come together to support the team that goes on to the payoffs. I am an alum of Sherman and remember well the Sherman fans that have traveled with the Jackets to support them in the post season. God Bless both teams

Hmm, Interesting. Denison put 75 on Mckinney, Sherman put 26 on Mckinney and should have lost. Friday night Sherman finds out what it feels like to be stuck in mud. A@& Whoopin coming friday kittie cats. But, Keep dreaming. Denison is the strongest team that you will play until your ousted in the 1st round.

I dont like the ranking stat. I like the Jackets out of the top ten and not ranked at all. The Jackets were ranked and went to Big Spring with an arrogant attitude and got beat, A clear mind without being ranked is the way to go. Go into the playoffs in Stealth mode, Being an Egnima is the ticket. I like the idea that the Dallas Morning News does'nt carry us anymore. Nobody knows much about the Jackets until we put 38 on the scoreboard without blinking. The 1984 State Champions from Jacketland were not ranked at all...Go Jackets!!!
