National rankings also touch hoopsters
With the latest release of Rivals.com's Class of 2010 basketball rankings, the Texomaland area has a pair of very familiar names.
Sherman junior forward Cameron Clark was ranked as the 22nd-best basketball player in the country in the Class of 2010 by Rivals.com's initial rankings while Denison junior guard T.J. Taylor was ranked just inside the top 100 at No. 95. Taylor is a four-star recruit who has already committed to Oklahoma.
Both are cementing themselves as two of the best basketball players the area has produced.
Clark averaged 21 points, 7.5 rebounds and two assists, was the MVP in 9-4A and was an all-state selection as Sherman won the 9-4A title and reached the region semifinals. He has scholarship offers from, among others, Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, UCLA and LSU.
Taylor averaged 27.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game and was an all-state selection for the second straight season as Denison won a first-round playoff game for the third straight season -- a first for the program -- and is just 13 points shy of 2,000 for his career.
