Banning smoking not the answer
A brief comment on modern science:
I was rather upset when I read in the Herald Democrat that the Texas legislature was considering a bill that would ban smoking in all public places.
I have researched this claim and can find NO representative data or statistics to support these claims. I have been a life-long smoker, and can probably find hundreds more, that have NO trace of any respiratory disease. If all these claims that smoking CAUSES cancer, then why are there smokers that have no history of this disease?
The statistics published by the government and other interested parties have no mention of the thousands of smokers that get no cancers or respiratory diseases. I grew up in a northeast Indiana city in a house with lead plumbing, asbestos insulation on the furnace pipes, and the Wabash Railroad with steam engines a block away. Here I am, 66 years old, and NO troubles. Explain that, Mister Surgeon General.
