Distruction of property not a victimless crime
On a recent Sunday night, I was watching TV in the living room and my husband was in the office. There were five or six very loud pops.
I ran into the office and said there was someone at the front door. Upon checking, there was no one there. The next morning we discovered there were six holes in our bedroom window, apparently from a pellet gun or BB gun. This is a very large double window with a large arch over the window. Now it will have to be replaced at our expense.
We are in our late 70s and relatively new to Sherman. We moved here to be closer to relatives and chose Sherman over Denison or Durant.
The Sherman Police Department tells us this is not an uncommon occurrence here. How sad that someone has to destroy someone else's property just for the fun of it, I suppose. Why else would this type thing happen?
If the person(s) responsible should read this, please think about it before you do something like this again. It is such a waste and causes a lot of expense and grief. Is it really worth it to you?
