I promise to try e-filing
I'm probably pretty savvy about things online, but one thing I've never tried, which I will on Monday, is filing my taxes online.
I've never had the courage. Last year, I made a pretty large mathematical error, which the Internal Revenue Service corrected. The error, which was in my favor, ended up to be fairly embarrassing because when I went back and read the form, I was supposed to include the final tally from this particular form onto the 1040 form. I didn't, and ended up writing the Internal Revenue Service an unnecessary check.
Hopefully, these e-file services have some sort of proofing mechanism in place, so I don't have to repeat that mistake.
I'll begin my research today, hopefully file tonight (I've already worked out my taxes by hand ... old habits die hard) and see how I did.
If you haven't filed your taxes yet, you still have until Wednesday. The problem will be finding an open U.S. Post Office if you wait too long.
